How Do You Express Your Love to God?

What does the word “Love” mean to you? More importantly what does it mean to you with respect to God, our Father in Heaven? Do you love God? As a Christian, I’m sure you’re shouting, of course “I love God!” However, those three words have become so cliche they have virtually no meaning.
How do you express your love to God? Do you go to church once a week? Maybe attend a few bible studies in-between? What actions do you take in your daily life to show your love for our Father? Many people say they love God but do they really show God their love?
The reason God created us to begin with was for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). That is the meaning of life. So what does that mean exactly, what does God want from us? He wants your love (Hosea 6:6). He wants you to follow the Ten Commandments he set forth and believe on His Son Jesus Christ (1 John 3:23).
Let’s take a moment and look at some parallels in order to put things in perspective.
Our Father created us in the flesh and gave us the ability to create children of our own. So that we could enjoy them, raise them, educate them, love them and in return they love us. You see our relationship with God is the same. This is one of the reasons he gave us the ability to create children of our own so that we could witness first-hand the love you could have for a child. That same scenario is God’s every day for every soul on Earth. He is our Father and loves us all very much.
With that said, think for a moment… How would you feel if your child only approached you when they were in need? Or if your child came out of their room once a week to congregate with you. How would that make you feel?

We spend far too much time worrying about this flesh age and the things we perceive to be important. We concentrate more on what we see, hear, feel, want or need which is only reserved for today rather than the spiritual aspect which will last forever (John 3:16). Think about that for a moment… For those who truly love God, you are promised a spiritual body which is perfect in heath and will last an eternity in a paradise of peace! Why would you not want to dedicate more time and show your love to the One who made that promise to you? Let’s look at one more promise.
1 Corinthians 2
9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

That is love my friends. How can we even begin to thank our Father for that one promise? We can attempt to by; telling Him we love Him, showing it by our actions, reading His Word, talking to Him in prayer, acting as a man or woman of God in our daily life, teaching our children about His Word and sharing it with our friends.
We need to be concerned about God’s feelings in all of this. To further our perspective, let’s say your wife took the time to write you a poem but you never took the time to read it. How do you think that would make her feel? Obviously, that would not make her happy nor convey your love to her. The same can be said of our Father. He has feelings as we do only more so as He is the Creator of all. We need to spend more time in our daily lives showing Him we love Him (expressing love to your Father is only natural is it not?). Setting aside just 10 minutes to read the bible shows Him you care about the letter He wrote to you. Now imagine how that makes Him feel!
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
