Come to know Him too

Can you have a close, personal, real relationship with God? After all, since He is our Father, shouldn’t we get to know Him well?

Every relationship begins with an introduction. Some people intimidate us when we first meet, perhaps because of their powerful reputation or strength of personality. But as we get to know them and embrace mutual thoughts and principles, our acquaintance blossoms into friendship.

So how do you build a relationship with God? Prayer, fasting and meditation, along with studying our Bible,  are major keys for communicating with God and understanding His will. It’s important to know how to use them!

Through studying His Word, God introduces Himself so you can understand His character, love and mercy. But then, as King David did, we respond to Him through prayer, fasting and meditation, especially focusing on how we will relate to Him. For example, although David found great beauty in God’s laws, many people today reject them as burdensome or irrelevant. Yet David, called “a man after God’s own heart,” came to know God through his prayer, fasting and meditation. Likewise, as we grow in our relationship with God we can come to identify with David, and with the words of John, “By this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments!” 1 John 2:3.

Prayer, fasting and meditation are three essential factors for building a real relationship with God.
